ABOUT ME

My Experience

A little about my background

I left school at 16.

Awaiting exam results, I applied for a 'fill in' job, applying for interview at a local photographers, Walter Gardiner Photography - one of the south's leading commercial studios, and was offered my first full time employment.
.....I stayed with them for over 24 years!

Working my way up, I learnt all aspects and processes within a busy commercial studio, winning awards along the way, for both my hand printing and photography, gaining - ILFORD Photographer of the Year - 1992

I have run my own commercial studio since 2000, and also provide classic studio portraits, - model portfolio shoots and relaxed, natural light, location portrait shoots.

__________

I seldom use filters, either on camera or in post production, preferring to apply my photographic hand printing skills & techniques to my digital images.

For interest, I have included the What3Words locations on many of my listings, so that you can see exactly where they were taken.

I hope you like my personal collection of images.

C-Type or Giclée?

What is a C-Type print?

Photographic 'C-Type' prints are made by exposing light onto colour paper, which is then developed and washed using traditional photographic techniques.

Wet, chemical processed prints, are exposed by a high-resolution digital printer, this process offers the quality and archival properties of a traditional photographic print.

How long do C-type prints last? (Chromogenic print)

They state Colour (C Type) prints stored in total darkness in ideal atmospheric conditions can last over 200 years before noticeable fade occurs but this is not a typical situation for print usage.
In a photo album Colour C Type print life should exceed 100 years.

Giclée

What is a Giclée print

Giclée, the French word for ‘spray’, refers to the ink jet printing process used to produce these beautiful archival pigment fine art prints.

How long does a inkjet print last?

If you take care of your prints, they could potentially last hundreds of years with no visible fading.
Colour photographs (C-Type) slightly less.

Pigment inkjet prints on archival quality paper could last with no visible fading for 75 - 400+ years, depending on quality of framing and display conditions.
